Girl's just have weird bodies! They all mature differently and at different times. I had two close friends growing up. One started her period when she was 10, and the other was 18!
If you are sexually active you should go see a doctor. Even if you're not sexually active you may want to just to make sure everything is OK.

By 16, it's a good idea to have had a complete checkup anyway. So, you may as well go to the doctor and ask about it. :)

hehe, thats what sexually active means. well i heard been really skinny can effect ur period, but u should have or pretty soon get ur rag. this is a medical problem if u dont get it by 18. u should go get check by ur doctor. but i believe its ur weight causing ur period to be late. i wouldnt worry too much about it, (its not all that cracked-up to be ;) ). plus worrying will only be makin it worse. wish u the best. :)

If you are physically very active, like in several sports, & very competive, you may not be getting enough estrogen produced. Your body could be producing testosterone for the competive physical activities.

A doctors vist & male/female hormone tests would be good.

My wife was your size in HS & into every sport, very competive. She had periods about once or twice a year. That suited her. After college she quit competing & started gaining weight, boobs, regular periods, & children.

Good luck

I think it would be a good idea to have your thyroid checked as long as you are going to the doctor. If there is a problem with your thyroid gland it can affect mental health, and female issues.
Just a thought,

I wouldnt worry if you havent started your period yet it can come at all different ages you can look at your history (mom, grandma ect) you may get your period around the same age that they did but Ive had friends as early as 11 and as late as 19 to start their periods it just depends on mother nature i guess

You mentioned a mental health problem. If you suffer from severe depression it can cause your cycles to stop or be delayed. It would be wise to get on a path that will help you work towards resolving any issues you may have.

16 is not terribly "old" to not be menstruating. Also, you are not considered underweight for your height but neither am I when my cycles disappear due to low weight. I have to work to keep my weight up so that I will cycle. Not everyone's body goes by "the charts" :) . The best way to tell is work at gaining 5 pounds and see if it helps (the goal is to gain body fat in a healthful way not to eat junk food or work out more; eat avocados, nuts, seeds and nut butters. Dairy and whole grain carbs will help as well.).

Everyone's body "awakens" at different times it may simply be normal for you. Talk with your mom/caregiver about it (maybe she started her periods later as well).

I wouldn't worry to much. I've heard that you have to be around 110 lbs sometimes before you'll start. But its nothing unnormal some girls dont get the periods until there 18.

Weight can sometimes factor into not getting your period, along with activity level. However, I got my first period when I was 13 and in the 7th grade, and I didn't break 100 pounds until I was in 11th grade. Your best bet is to see a Doctor and make sure things are ok down there!
