Last weekend I got up in the middle of the night and on the way to the bathroom stumbled into a rather large barbell that ripped my little toenail almost totally out of the nail bed. I pushed it back down and put bandaids on to stop the bleeding and went back to bed in a great deal of pain. The next day I cleaned it up and limped around like a cripple.
I am no longer limping, but the majority of the nail seems to be wanting to come back up. I trim it back a little every day or so.
Any suggestions on how to handle this or what to expect?

Keep cutting it back as much as you can and keep antibacterial ointment on it. As soon as the damaged portion grows off the free edge, it should be all right.
