this whole anxiety thing is very new to me. on friday i snapped. i woke up with my heart racing and could not see straight. i can't see my dr until monday and i need some short term relief. all of a sudden the idea of going to work terrifies me. i took an ativan this morning so that i could go to work and it had a very negative effect. when i get really stressed i get a tingle in my shoulder. does any of this make sense to any of you?

Hi Amber
If your muscles are tense (whether your aware of it or not) you can end up with a tingling or burning sensation in shoulders or any muscle group. What do you mean by the ativan having a "very negative effect"? Often ppl suffering from anxiety will awaken in the morning in an anxious state. Glad you do have an app't and make sure you mention about the ativan. Concentrate on breathing from your belly when you first wake up in the morning. Lie there for a bit and make sure its your belly rising and falling with each breath and not your chest. Shallow breathing is a big cause of alot of the symptoms from anxiety....L
