I think every brand is different...some start protecting you immediately, others take 30 days. I started having unprotected sex 10 days after starting on Ortho Novum 1/35...and as far as I know I'm not pregnant (it's been 4 months) ;)

All birth controls claim to be effective after 7 days of perfect use, however many professionals recommend abstaining/using a back-up method of birth control for the entire first cycle.

so i should be ok? if not what should i do? cause like the day after, i got my period so would that mean i have to just wait and see untill my next period?

Well, if you were within the time period, you could have sought emergency contraception. But, as you said, you just have to wait until your next period.

but i thought you couldnt do emergency contraception while on the pill, as you can see, these things werent explained to me... :confused:

You can use EC with the pill...

If you don't get your period, take a pregnancy test. If it comes back negative, take another test. If the next test is negative, continue your birth control.

ok so period is due soon, do i take the test if it doesnt start, or just take it now just to be sure? (btw the bf dumped me so i REALLY dont wanna be pregnant heh)
