Hi all,

I'm new to the CF board. I have FM and am pretty sure I have CFS, but am trying to "fire" my rheumy as I don't get good vibes from her, so I'm looking at Neuro's. I was wondering who all of you have treat your CFS. I got an okay from a Neuro's office, as soon as I ran it by my PCP. I called my clinic today where I see my rheumy and wanted to see one of the other rheumies and the receptionist asked me "why", I said I just wanted to see the other rheumy, and she said that they had to ask and that they would call me back. I asked them why I couldn't see who I wanted to? The other rheumy specializes in musculoskeletal (sp?) conditions and is an internal medicine specialist too. He is just in the rheumatology department. She said it was just courtesy to let them know that a patient of one doc wants to see another doc in the same dept. I said that I understood that, but I wanted to see him, and I would continue to call back until I could make an appt with him.

Anyway, who do you all see for CFS or Myofacail Pain Syndrome?

Thank you,
tk

Who treats my CFS? Me... I treat my CFS, because most doctors haven't a clue how to treat, other than shoving a load of antidepressants at you or telling you to see a psychiatrist. I've spent way too much money seeing an ENT and endo but neither of them could help at all. My GP doesn't help either. So that leaves me to do something about it.

Other than that, rheumatology is probably a good place to start if you have a lot of muscle pains/aches, so they can rule out other causes.

I currently take CoQ10, L-carnitine, magnesium and vitamin B complex. I walk every day and carry on as normally as possible. It hasn't "cured" me yet, but believe me, the CoQ10 makes a world of difference to muscular pain/aches. At the moment the only symptom bothering me is my brain fog, but I guess that takes a little longer to go!!

Basically, go with your instincts and what feels the right thing to do regarding seeing consultants. Helping yourself is the only way with this illness.

kiya :)
