I am starting a plan where i do 20 minutes of cardio on my elliptical trainer 4 days a week.. alon with few crunches and abdominal exercises... i am mainly focusing on my cardio because i have been told that to first u must lose all the fat covering the abdominal muscles that u most- likely already have..... but my question is.. if i do cardio for 20 min. 4 days a week along with a softball team i am on.. how long will it take to c results.. and will my body "adapt" to the 20 minutes of cardio if i do it on the same machine? (i try to put it on diffrent settings such as slope, incline, ramp.. etc. each time i run)
Thank you,

Your routine is not bad and you will see some results after the first month, however I want to give you a few pointers. First, cardio alone is not the best method for losing body fat. You should definitely add in some weight training at least a couple of days a week. This is important because weight training will fire up your metabolism around the clock whereas cardio only burns calories while you are working out. If you only have 4 days a week to workout, you would be better off by doing some weight training first and then cardio afterwards. I like the fact that you are switching up your cardio routine as well for two reasons...first, it never allows your body to adapt to your regimine and second, it keeps you from getting bored. After all this is said and done though, don't forget the other half of the equation which is your diet...keep it clean!

Do the exercises slowly (literally count to three or five on the way up and down) and really squeeze the muscle. It's a great way to make lighter weights more effective, since it's the time under tension that's important to getting lean muscle. It's a lot more difficult than it sounds. :)

It's hard to say, but if you're eating clean and staying consistent, 6-8 weeks you should really notice a significant difference. It could be as soon as 2-4 weeks, but don't get discouraged if you don't see the changes right away. Stick with it and you'll see a big difference.

Okay.. im not rly sure if i am keeping it clean eating though.. like this is what all i ate today.. (i kept a food diary) and it was an improvment of how much i usually eat though
1 turkey and mustard sandwich on honey wheat bread
about 20 of those "light" Lay potato chips..(75 calories for 20 of them!)
a glass of diet coke
(this may sound weird but i ate about 1 tablespoon of ketup with my chips.. lol.. .. its good and gives them more taste with less calories!)
1 "Special K Bar" (90 calories)
1 whole bagel (all white)
2 tablespoons of cream cheese
water
2 ounces of steak
about 1 1/2 pieces of honey wheat bread with butter
2 tablespoons of ketchup
a glass of diet coke
i ran on my elliptical for 20 minutes... and it said that i burned 400 calories?? lol
