HAS ANYONE EXPERIENCED THE EFFECTS FROM ACTOS LIKE THE BROCHURE SAYS.....WEIGHT GAIN, TEETH PROBLEMS, HEART PALPATATIONS,COUGH.

I take 30mg of Actos. My doctor increased my to dosage to 45mg once and I experienced shortness of breath. I went back to the 30mg and I am okay again. As far as weight gain goes....... I have gained weight since being diagnosed 3 years ago. I believe it could be the Actos and the insulin that I take causing me to gain weight, but I would rather gain a few pounds than walk around with high numbers. All of the drugs have side effects. I have learned to deal with them. :wave:

I have been on it for just a month. My numbers are great!!! I take Actos15. My Dr. added this to my other meds. I had just lost 16lbs before I started it and put on about 5lbs in the month. But I feel great. My feet stopped hurting after taking Multi Betic vitamins for a couple of months and now the Actos has really brought the numbers. I feel like I have a new life again and it has made me really try harder to work on eating right and getting some exersice. I am having cataract surgery in two weeks and I'm glad the numbers came down. I had been in the 150 - 250 range. Now the numbers are in the low 70's before I eat and 110's after 2 Hrs. I have been taking a lot of readings and writing down what I eat. I never really did that much before because I was so discusted with everything. I am going to the hospital tomorrow for tests on my gallbladder and liver. Had some bad pains in stomach and back on the right side. This happened since the Actos so just getting everything checked out. Have been feeling better so maybe it was something else. My blood test showed nothing wrong with my liver but just going a little further with the tests. You have to have your liver tested every two months the first year on Actos thru blood tests. Now I just have to get moving a little again. I was walking 11/2 miles everyday here in the hills of TN. but stopped. Plus I hope to do something else and hope I can lose more weight.

While I never had any serious side effects on actos besides fatigue, I DID gain about 10 pounds in one month. After three months on it I was switched to insulin, as Actos was the last med for me to take.

My father took actos and gained about 40 pounds. He lost all the weight he gained as soon as he stopped taking it and went on insulin.
