For those of you who take Ritalin at what times do you take it? How long did it take before you started to feel the affects of it?

I took Ritalin for a few months about 10 years ago, shortly after I was diagnosed as ADD. I wanted something to allow me to organize my day so I wouldn't walk around all the time getting freaked out about making decisions. When I remembered to take it, it would be after breakfast. It would take about 15 minutes to kick in, and would last about 4-5 hours. It calmed me down emotionally, and allowed me to calmly list the things I could or should be doing for the day, and then prioritize them and then calmly (!!!) start on the list. What a concept! I rarely needed a second pill to get me through the day -- once I had things organized, it was relatively easy to finish things, even after the pill had worn off. Then I moved to Germany and it became very difficult to get, and I've been trying to figure out ever since how to achieve this calmness without drugs.
