I woke up extremly nervous today and had extreme anxiety. My follow up appointment was at 10 to see if the lump was still there. So anyway went to my appointment and had to wait till the doc came in . It was horrible waiting. basically wanted it done and over with. The lady came in and examined my right breast (the one they didnt find a lump monday) just to double check. She said it felt normal. Then she went to the left breast where they found a lump monday. She didnt find anything. She went over it SEVERAL times and found nothing. She asked, "where did the lady find it monday?" and i told her and she went over it again and still found nothing. She asked if i went over it myself since monday and i told her i did several times tuesday and found nothing. I told her that my period just ended saturday. She said the lump was prob found monday because my period just ended and that during your period your breasts fill up with fluid and that sometimes its normal to get lumps during ur period. Ur supposed to wait a week after your period before doing a self exam. I knew that but i was too stubborn and wanted to get a physical right away. Anyway..she showed me how to do a self exam correctly and what to look for which was great help. She said your supposed to look for a hard lump spot and to find anything on ur breast that looks diff. like discoloration on your breast or discharge from your nipple.

She said because of my family history of my aunt having breast cancer 2 times (survived both=awesome)and my grandmother having colon cancer for me to do self exams every month and to get mammagrams after the age of 49.

Since this health scare i want every female here to do self exams. They are important. I rarely ever done self exams. Just now and then. But now from this i learn you should do it regulary. You can get breast cancer at any age. Yes breast cancer is rare for someone in theiir 20s but it happens. The youngest person i heard of getting it was 17! :/. The lady that examined my breast said that her daughter discovered a lump when she was 13!!!

From this ive decided that im going to eat more healthy. lol yeh me eat healthy yeh right. But seriously i need to eat more fruits and salads. Its hard living on campus because most of the food is greasy but i need to eat better. I need to continue exercising and i need to drink more water. Also im going to lay off the alcohol a little bit.

Thanks everyone for the condolences.

Also I pray for everyone on here that is going through cancer. My heart is with you!

Yippee :) I'm so happy for you. Now you can go back to concentrating on your exams and papers. It's a good way to learn to do self exams...
