It's a common type of miscarriage...tamara, I'm so sorry for your loss.

a blighted ovum happens when early on the baby doesn't develop. but the placenta still does, and so does the egg sac. we couldn't hear the heartbeat at 10w but didn't worry my ob said that's not so unusual. but we scheduled an ultrasound. at 11w the egg sac was huge, the placenta normal, my uterus increasing in size - but no baby. it was heartbreaking for my husband and me. we scheduled a D&C the next day. yesterday. we are recovering. hopefully around May we'll conceive again. i was having a completely normal pregnancy. hcg levels normal.

I had one of these miscarriages after my first child. It was very upseting and I am so sorry you had to go through this also. I hope you conceive quickly and with a healthy normal pregnancy soon!! :)

I went thru the same thing last July. It was my first pregnancy and the same exact things happened with me. I ended up having a D&C and now I am 5 months pregnant again. The doctor made me wait 3 months for ttc and as soon as that was up we were trying again!!
