Ive been having the problem most people on here are having...........I was diagnosed about 4 years ago with Meiners Disease.........or so they say.....I haven't had a major episode until 4 months ago........right after I was put on birth control for some female problems.........and was wondering if maybe it could be a trigger to this attack. I didn't ever have "brain fog" before, but have this go around............just wondering if any other woman had this happen................thanks for the info...............

Menieres and other inner ear probs - but esp menieres can be worsened by a rise in inner ear fluid which happens during menstruation. Not sure about the birth control pills - something in them which triggered it maybe or a bad reaction?

Hi Deena
I have been on the Depo Provera injection for about 8 years - I used to have quite heavy periods and always had hormonal migraines at the start of my period. Within 6 months of starting the Depo, I ceased having periods and have not had any since, which apparently happens to around 60-70% of women who use the injection. Maybe this could be an option for you if the cyclic nature of birth control pills (i.e. still having a period every month) is causing a problem? I have BPPV (together with a lot of ongoing balance and visual problems) which began nearly 4 years ago, long after I went on the injection. I had been on the Pill for nearly 10 years before that and had no dizziness problems with it.

Don't mean to intrude ladies...
Even though all dizzy problems can be aggrevated by changes in hormone levels, migraine (MAV) imparticular is often assoiciated with menstral periods, and is hard to dishtinguish from menieres. Also migraine often has BPPV as a "cotraveller"...

Thanks everyone for your info. I've only gone to see one ENT, and i'm looking for a neurotologilst(sp?) in my area. They say they know more about whats going on with patients like us. My ENT said "brain fog" wasn't anything to do with inner ear problems. When he told me that, I knew I was at the wrong Dr. Hope everyone has a great night. Thanks again. Deena

Hey Deena--
Just to make you feel better--brain fog has alot to do with inner ear disorders. The 3 ENT's I went to told me that it didnt, but then when I went to a neurotologist--he says it has alot to do with it. They know alot more about the inner ears than ENT's. A neurotolgist would be a great next step!

Thanks Sherrie...............i've looked for one thats close to where I live, but didn't have any luck. THere is one about two hours from where I live, and I'm gonna try to get in to see him. My ENT did tell me I may have TMD......but I haven't had alot of time to look up information on that. I just get so tired of not knowing what it really is.........thanks again for your reply ....................hope you have a wonderful weekend!!
