I have seen a mile long list of what symptoms are of TMJ and I would like to ask for your personal experience with pain and discomfort. I have a hard time yawning because it hurts somewhere in the back of my mouth/jaw area. Anyone experience this kind of pain?

Hi. Mine preop was in the joint. Grinding, crunching, mostly when opening or yawning, but also when chewing. A few months before my surgery the pain was constant. I also had muscular pain in my neck and upper back. Now, postop, I have none of the old pain, but new, strange pains. Right behind the joint, under my ear, and through my cheekbone. The back and neck still hurt too. I've noticed everyone's experience and pain is different. Even 2 people with the same problem.

cracking, crunching and popping noises from my jaw, earache, jaw ache, facial pain, head pains, scalp pain, neck pain, lower back pain, eye pain. The worst problem for me if its connected to TMJ is head pressure :(

I have to say my TMJ is pretty bad I get like headaches, neck, pain, shoulder pain, jaw pain, jaw pops, jaw locks, and only can eat easy to chew foods. My jaw also shift to my left side when I open and I also have an open bite. I wear a 24/7 splint and that helps alot and I am not in as much pain I only get pain once in a while it use to be 24/7

For those with scalp pain....what causes that in TMJD? Does your feel like an infected hair follicle or hot or anything like that?

The scalp is from the pull on the muscle. all the muscles are interconnected. One of the most annoying symtoms for me is the constant ear buzzing. anyone else ?

luvtocamp,

which muscles are you referring to? Those muscles can make the SCALP tender? What do you do for it?

I get it all. Joint pain, headaches, head pressure, earache, cheek bone pain, eye pain, neck pain, lower back pain, shoulder pain.....24 hour tinnitus. I get all the cracking, crunching and popping from my jaw. Not fun at all. Im a grinder so im sure this was the casue of my TMJD.

P.S I have had the scalp pain and it was excrutiating. The pain would come and go in waves and would also travel to my ears.
