Well I had a pap smear yeasterday 6 months after my last notmal one. I was treated for an abnormal pap in may and the doctor told me since I know have a history of abnormal paps I had to come in 6 months later instead of a year later. I had the freezing procedure done and hoping it keeps things normal but I am so scared it will be abnormal again  . Oh and one more thing... When the doctor used the thin prep brush to scrape the cells off my cervix he got a spot of blood on it. I wasn't bleeding after the procedure at all though. Why was there a spot of blood on his brush? Could that be bad?

Hi,

First of all, do not be nervous at all about the cytobrush getting a spot of blood after the scraping. It is natural, it happens all the time, it happened to me and I even had some spotting for a couple hours afterwards. (That little brush can be really mean: some drs use it instead of a curette to scrape cells from the endocervix.) In my case, the brush was all pink after the smear, I could have done without seeing it...

What level abnormality were you treated for?

We are ALL scared of abnormal Paps, especially since our histories are far from perfect... All you can do is be brave and do your follow-up as your dr tells you. I think that in many cases they wait to have a couple of years of normal Paps and/or colpos before they have you on the yearly schedule again. In the meantime, it is important to keep this monitored closely, as you do already! :)

I hope your Pap results are excellent!! Please do keep us posted.

Hugs.

Thanks for your encouraging post I feel much better. I had 2 abnormal paps while I was pregnant that were LGSIL. They wanted to wait until I delivered to do anything else. So 6 weeks after I delivered they did a repeat pap that came back HGSIL. Ok let me tell you how much a freaked out. I thought for sure I was speeding towards cervical cancer. They told me not to worry and I had the colposcopy which basically revealed a normal (cervix nothing turned white with the vinegar). So thats when they decided to freeze it and the doctor said it should stay normal from here on out but a lot of people on this board say they have had abnormal paps after procedures. I guess I will have to wait and see!
