Hi all,

Yesterday, my 5 months old fell from my bed at 3 am while I fell asleep nursing her. She just learned how to roll over the past weekend. It scared the living day light ouf of my husband. I was not as panic as he, but I got scared after a few hours later. Slow reaction.... She got checked by ped and he said she's fine.

The thing is, last night, it seems like she got scared easily..constantly need comfort. She was already asleep on dh's arm. When he was going to put her down on her crib, she would cry loudly. Then he held her again until she was asleep. But didn't dare to put her in the crib. He finally tried to put her in our bed. She got up crying. I nursed her until she was asleep again. She was asleep for about 10 - 15 minutes. I went to take a shower...when I was done, she woke up crying looking for me eventough dh was there the whole time holding her.

Could this behavior be caused by the fall?

Thanks!

I really dont know.....

I wouldn't think so but you never know!

2 of my kids fell off our bed. It happens. Thank goodness babies are made soft to help with these sort of incidences. The one was with my hubby, he stepped away and she rolled off. The other was my son with me. He had woke up - I didn't - he crawled off the end of the bed. He cried for a minute and was fine.

Just reassure her your still there.

Thanks, April. She seems fine now. I hope she's not traumatic from it.

she probably just vaguely remebers it and is wary of it happenign again! I was babysitting a few months ago for my neighbors baby, he was about 1, and he was watching a movie on the bed, well I got up, and he jumped off after me! But he landed badly! Well he cried for a little while, and we went out into the living room. He was really sleepy, so i was trying to take him back to the bed, but he would not go in the door! And when I finally got him in the door, he wouldn't get on the bed! Well after about an hour or so, and some bribery, lol, he got up on the bed, but he was still very wary of the edges, and clung to me.

When my son was an infant (I think he was only a couple months old) he fell off of me when we were laying on the couch. He was a preemie and I was a little afraid of how to take care of him. Some nights, my dh and I would take turns sleeping on the couch with him. He would just lay on our chests and we would hold him. One night, he fell off me and right onto the floor. I was soooooo scared. The next day I took him to the doctor and he was fine. But after that, he would scream when either of us tried to sleep with him on the couch like that. I dont know how he could sense that, but apparantly, he could. From there on, he slept perfectly in his crib.
