Help me if you can! I have had nausea frequently lately. Does anyone have a remedy or know how to stop this. I have an Addison's dagnosis but little help from docotrs since. Am on Prednisone and Fludrocort.

I currently take 2.5 mg of Prednisone in the morning along with .1mg Fludrocort. I also take 1.5 mg of Levothyroxin upon waking and low dose Prempro in the evening. Some days I do fine and others I spend feeling nauseous.

No wonder you are not feeling well. How did they diagnose your addisons? The min dose of prednisone for most is 5mgs. Max is 7.5mg. If you do have addisons you should be taking something like 4mg prednisone in the a.m. & 1mg in the afternoon. I take the last 1mg about 5pm. Some have to take their last steriod mid afternoon so it doesn't keep them awake.

Some people take the whole prednisone dose in the morning. I believe there are too many hours between doses this way & prefer to split it as mentioned above.

I really do wonder about your doc. I would be searching for a new one who knows about addisons. Whoever diagnosed you with addisons & then put you on 2.5mg prednisone is way off!!

PS.....Is it possible that you misread your instructions?

Usually people are started at 5mg a.m. & 2.5mg in the afternoon. This is what they prescribed for me & after finding forums discovered it was too much for me.

Well, I am trying a new doctor since I am convinced this one doesn't know anything about Addison's. I had a crisis last summer - classic and bad. My skin had been getting really dark over the last few years. When I started getting sick, I was told it was a virus and sent home. By the time I took the ambulance ride to the hospital they had to use a second blood pressure machine because the first didn't go low enough! All my minerals were off, my blood count was low and I had never felt so bad. I couldn't lift my head off the pillow until they finally gave me some steroid and I felt better. I had a CT scan and a MRI and myriads of other stuff including the test that uses insulin. There was a doctor at the hospital who knew about Addison's and was great, but I was "turned over" to a local doctor who is actually a Renal guy. (The first doctor didn't take patients.) I was given literature about Addison's. I have had several follow up checks and my blood work looks much better, just a little low calcium. But, I knew my doctor didn't know anything about my condition when he kept pushing me to lower the dosage of Prednisone. (I did start with higher dosage and it has been gradually lowered over several months.)
