Hi
Does anyone know -if you had ductal carcinoma in situ and taken off HRT which was keeping my bones stable - whether you could use natural progesterone cream? I don't know if it is just the estrogen that is the problem or not. I am on Evista for the bones which is not working. I went down another 3% on it and am now 36% below fracture level. I can not take any of the other osteo meds and heard that the natural progesterone cream helps the bones. I have been begging all my docs for HRT but no one will give it to me. I was thinking I'd rather chance the breast cancer coming back (the surgeon said it would probably come back invasive/aggressive) than die of osteo. I already broke my collerbone by opening the car door into it and a rib from doing nothing. If anyone has any info about this please let me know. Thanks.

I don't know, but I posted a reply to keep this at the top in the hopes that someone else will read this and have an answer. Is it possible to see a homeopathis doctor for this question and or other methods of treatment?
I also wanted to tell you that my heart goes out to you. What a vile condition for you to have to cope with in addition to the worry of cancer. If it is true that God chooses those he considers his strongest children to bear the heaviest burdens, then you, my sweet, must be one of his "special agents".
God bless, I will pray for you.

Hi suggi,
It really depends on the pathology of your cancer. Were your cancer cells estrogen and/or progesterone positive? If so, you should not receive either of those hormones b/c it's basically like giving fertilizer to the cancer -- the cancer cells feed off the hormones and grow. Most women if they are positive are either e+ or p+. Lucky me, I'm both.
Take it from me, you do not want your cancer to come back. When my cancer was found I had 2 tumors in the left breast, no lymph node involvement. Here I am yrs later with numerous tumors in both lungs, liver, soft tissue of my back as well as several vertebrae.
Ask your Dr about options for bone strength. There is a drug that I get called Zomeda. It is delivered as a 15 min IV drip and has no hormones. You really need to be careful and avoid the HRT.
Wishing you the best,
Kalie

Thanks Kalie
I guess I will skip the HRT at this point. I have so many other health issues I don't know which one to address first anyway. Besides the osteoporosis I have uncontrollable acid reflux (with double meds) that hits the area between the collarbone and adams apple/gastritis/esophagitis, Crohn's disease, urethritis, severe chronic sinusitis and on and on. It's the constant bad sore "throat" I worry about because I keep thinking of that cancer word. I had skin cancer as well as BC. I have a 2 page list of drug related allergies and adverse reactions that keeps getting longer and longer each year. So.....being I am allergic to carba mix now they are reluctant to do a scope as the scopes have rubber tips and angles and carba mix is in both synthetic and natural rubber (latex and non latex).
I was so glad to see your post and that you are in that trial. I really hope it works even tho you are on low dose. Is that in addition to the Zometa? I have been so worried about you. Please keep posting.......we are all concerned and are praying for you.
