has anyone ever gotten pregnant after a miscarriage w/out having their cycle first? if so, has anyone had a successful pregnancy that way? what's the normal time to get pregnant after a miscarriage?

I haven't gotten pregnant again without a cycle first, but I know its not for the best. My dr recommends that you have 2 or 3 cycles before trying again..along with takin your prenatal pills 2 months prior to conceiving too!

Hi there,
I personally have never gone through what you are.... however my sister inlaw had a total of 3 miscarriages in a matter of 6 months, and got pregnant for the 4th time and was able to carry the 4th. I know that she was supposed to have waited longer than she did inbetween the miscarriages, but she was really anxious to have another child. I believe but I may be mistaken, that you are supposed to wait a few months inbetween.

my doctor told me to wait one cycle. but he said to use protection, he said a barrier type such as a condom, b/c i could ovulate as soon as two weeks after a DNC. Of course we plan on using somelthing, but condoms are not 100% efficient. I just wondered if it were possible to get pregnant so soon after a miscarriage and what woujld happen if I did. we are also very anxious to get pregnant again as soon as possible, but we will wait for that cycle to happen. i hope it doesn't take long.

I just wanted to respond because I had a miscarriage in Nov 03 and was pregnant in Dec 03 before having another cycle. I now have a beautiful, healthy 6mo old baby boy. It can happen and work out great....my pregnancy was great too.
Good luck

I know doctors tell you to be careful and wait a certain amount of time, but I know a lady who miscarried her first pregnancy. She got pregnant immediately afterward (not intentionally) but carried the baby to term and had a healthy boy. She now has two healthy children.

Hello! I had three children and then a m/c. I got pregnant before I cycled and carried my fourth baby (fifth pregnancy) to full term.
My sixth pregnancy was a m/c. I became pregnant again before I cycled and carried my baby to full term (my fifth baby).
In November I m/c at 17 weeks (a tiny baby boy) and I again became pregnant before my period. This sadly also ended in a m/c.
I hope that all makes sense (I have had 5 live births and 4 miscarriages).
A m/c can be so difficult and I hope you're doing okay. I was always grateful to have another baby on the way so soon to help me focus on something other than my loss. My last two miscarriages that occured together were very difficult.
My doctor is of the opinion that the only reason to wait through a cycle is to be able to accurately date the pregnancy. He said there is usually no medical reason to wait (of course if you have a medical condition that can cause problems with a pregnancy he feels it's a good idea to have it under control or corrected).
Anyway, as I have some experience with this I wanted to respond to your post. I pray you'll be expecting again soon. I hope you're doing okay.
Love and Prayers, Kelly

I Had A Miscarriage In Sept Had A Dnc (this Is When They Have To Scrape Ur Uterus And Get The Fetus Out) And Then I Got Pregnant Again In Oct. Its Not The Wisest Thing To Do. I About Lost This One Several Times. I Was Bleeding All The Time, Had To Take Dispositories Throughout The Pregnancy. And I Had Him 5 Weeks Early. He Came Out 5 Pounds 14 Ounces. He Had Terrible Breathing Problems Was Hospitalized Several Times. My Suggestion Is To Wait At Least 3 Months Like The Doc Says. My Son Will Be 6 This Year. Hes Great Now (spoiled Rotten) Lol...but Just Wait Hun! Its For The Best!

thanks for the advice, Kelly. I talked to my doctor yesterday (I had a check up after the DNC) and I asked him why I should wait. He was honest and said basically what you said. Nothing bad should happen, he recommends waiting one cycle to clean my system and date the pregnancy. But he very cheerfully told me that if I don't want to wait, there's no reason to wait. So we've decided not to wait. Hopefully it won't take long.

After my m/c's I had two 2nd trimesrter ones due to a genetic birth defect the boys had. My Dr. just told me to wait 6 weeks before having sex just like a reg. delivery, after that if I got pregnant he was fine with it.
