I was doing a search on adrenal glands and everything came up to your site, so I am hoping someone can help.

I had a routine chest xray done, the dx was a lung nodule, my Dr. wanted a c-scan, no lung nodule, the radiologist said it was arthritis in my mid thorax with spurring. but he mentions in the report that my left adrenal gland was in the upper normal. probably related to hyperplasia or a ademona.

My Drs. office called and said my scan was fine, but I am concerned about the adrenal gland. I do have faith in my Dr. she in my opinion over tests. Should I be evaluated further. there are no measurements on the report only to say in the high end of normal. If the radiologists could see my adrenal gland shouldn't he be able to tell which it is, hyperplasia or a adenoma?

By the wayI am 63 years old and read this is common in elderly people, but not comfortable about this.

Thank you so much, Linda

Hello! I always feel that if someone is concerned they should definitely have it checked out. I don't know much about adenomas and hyperplasia of the adrenals but if you do a search for the symptoms of these (something like: adrenal gland adenoma symptoms etc...) it should bring up a list and you can compare it with any symptoms you may be having.

It never hurts to have your hormones tested as well. It seems saliva testing of the sex hormones (estrogen, progesterone, testosterone), cortisol levels (morning, afternoon, evening and night), DHEA, and the ACTH stimulation test(this one is a blood test) have been very revealing for some here.

I will be having mine tested hopefully this week (will be requesting them on Wednesday).

I hope you're able to gain peace about this soon. It's your life and your health don't let anyone make you feel silly about being concerned!

Love and Prayers, Kelly

Thanks Kelly,

I saw my Dr. on Mon. She said that there is no mass on my adrenal gland, that anytime there is smething a little off the radiologists will put hyperplasia or adenoma. She said if there was somthing t be concerned about they would have said a mass, the size and recommmended further investagaton. I asked her if I needed a recheck ad she said no, but if I feel more comortable she will have the scan redone in 6 months although she does not think it is necessary. She is very pro- active in testing for her patients so I am comfortable with what she told me. She does want me to go for a MRI of my cervical and thorastic spine, to determine where my neck and arm pain is coming from and to see exactly where the bone spurs are.

Again I thank you, God Bless.

Linda
