A splint is a 24/7 mouthguard that you wear full time and only remove it when eatting or cleaning it. I have one.

Not all splints are worn while eating.

Hello,
The proper function of a splint, any splint for that matter, is to move your condyle down and forward to the Gelb 4/7 vicinity. Therefore, your joints are decompress. and you will feel right again. If your splint does not do that, don't bother with it. They are not gonna help you. FACT and Gelb are examples of splints that work. Hope that helps.

take care,
gt

Hi sunshine123,

I have been reading your postings and I am curious to hear how you have been doing with Dr Friedman. I live in San Diego and have tmj. I cannot live with this pain and would like to find a dentist who knows what he's doing. Any suggestions/comments/stories you can reply with is much appreciated.

Thanks
