View Full Version : Getting REALLY exhausted around mid afternoon

This happened in my later high school days too.

I recently developed panic disorder from a bad episode from weed. Needless to say I don't ever care to touch that junk again.

But also before this panic thing started I was taking Centrum Performance Supplement (more of B and C vitamins to boost energy), Gingko Biloba and Ginseng and such....Ever since the panic disorder set in I quit taking that energy stuff. Obviously because that will induce panic attacks. Been over a month since I quit taking vitamin supplements.

And for the last little while between say 3-5 in the afternoon I get REALLY REALLY tired and I have to take a nap. Sometimes I know it's because I didn't get enough sleep the night before, but it also happens on days after I've gotten a good 8-9 hours of sleep the night before.

I used to get like that a few years back when I was still in high school. Get home at 3-4pm and immediately want to go to sleep.

I'm 20, almost 21. I do like to drink alot. And I work a crazy job running a photo lab. For about a year and a half I was working roughly 65 hours a week, never getting enough sleep blah blah blah....now that the company is CVS and not Eckerd I only work 40 hours a week and it's not near as bad. I don't know if maybe I've just never recovered from that hard period or what? Aside from being really tired around 3-5, I seem to overall just be under a "blanket" all the time. I feel like I have half the energy I did when I was 18, and it just seems odd to me that I would be like that at 20-21.

I've had what I believe to be manic depression since I was 10. Never actually diagnosed. And I've had general/social anxiety disorder since my fresh. year of high school.

So I'm just wondering what this might be!?! Thanks for replies!

How regularly do you eat? It sounds like you might just be running out of fuel when the afternoon hits. I am mildly hypoglycemic, and I have to watch out to not eat too many simple carbs (will give me energy, but then I crash), and I have to take care to eat enough during the day. I have at least one snack in the afternoon. Really, my doctor told me to have about 6 small meals throughout the day, but that's too hard when you have a family that doesn't want to eat that way, so I just added a couple of snacks during the day. I still feel tired about 2 or 3. I really think as humans we're probably meant to take a nap or two during the day, but real life doesn't normally allow that!

My eating habits are off because of my work. I usually can't eat "lunch" until 2 or 3 in the afternoon.

I eat breakfast when I wake up, usually a snack around 11, lunch at 2 or 3 and dinner between 6-8 at night.

I never eat sweets. Ever. I don't drink soda or anything either. Only water during the day.

I mean I love to sleep and all, but sometimes I wanna get stuff done or go chill with someone and I can't cos I'm too tired.

Saint, just curious, what kind of work do you do? Wonder how this fits into the puzzle...if at all.

Can I just ask, do these symptoms worsen in winter that you've noticed? Sept - March time... Jan-March especially?
