My Brother turned orange (gaundis) around 3 years ago and was in the hospital for 3 days till the gaundis went away. They told him he had Hep C. Since then he hasnt done anything about it.
Last week he went to a different Dr, and had blood tookin and they said that something in his blood was slightly elevated and it was probally nothing. He went to another Dr. and had blood drawn and once again they said that His ? levels were slightly off or slightly high so then they did a Hep test and it came back positive for Hepatitis C. Only slightly? what does that meen, slightly? Is that not as bad. He hasn't drank any alcohol or done any drugs in over 2 years.
I'm trying to get him to see a specialist but he is the type who just plays stupid, so I'm trying to get some answers here so I can have more info on Hep C.
Is it BAD that he turned orange over 2 years ago? Is there different levels of bad because the Dr. says his levels are only "slightly" raised?
What will happen if he does nothing. Is there a cure? He is on Mediacaid for a different medical reason so he should be able to get his treatment for free.
Any advice or your own story would be helpfull.
Oh yeah everone whants to know this next answer, he caught Hep C fro a blood transfusion in 1972

Thank you for any help u may be able to give me.

Based on that informations I guess it is impossible to make some predictions.
HCV is a serious illness, but there is a way - there is a therapy, which is not easy and works for about 50 % of the patients.
Your brother should definitely see a specialist. If possible, choose a doc which have experiences with HCV.
