I am not a doctor.. But, if you feel it is to your best peace of mind to get retested for Hepatitis C do it.... If it is positive it isn't the end of the world. I have had Hepatitis C since I was 16 years old and I am now 52... I have geno type 1b... Was married for 30 years and X is fine. Chance of passing it to your wife during sex is very very low risk. If your positive don't drink alcholic drinks and if you smoke stop. Eat good foods and don't dwell on having this virus. Your not alone...... Be honest with your doctors on how you might have gotten it. Most of us where hippies. Just go along with the protocol of finding out how bad your Hep C is and what type you have... Don't jump right into treatment..... It isn't mandatory to do that... Do your research and don't panic.... ((((((Hug To You)))))))

I have no argument with anything you have stated. I don't understand why you assume everyone got hepatitis C due to drug use, or what relevance it has to any medical decisionmaking. There is still a very large percentage of people who have multiple risk factors or who cannot identify ANY known risk factor.

As to doing research, check out the quicklinks on the website below my name.

I hope this helps,

thanbey

My doctor did a second test. I was also diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and that can cause a false positive. There may be other factors for a false positive. My second test was positive.

If your doctor can do another test, do it. I guess the most important thing is to get rolling on where you go from here.

You have asked for an opinion that is nearly impossible to give because I do not know you.

We all experience stresses in our lives, many that cannot be avoided. Stuff happens, you know?

The key is in how we handle the stresses that come our way. Some have a faith, some use lifestyle choices, like sports, exercise, etc Some people de-stress by separating work and family life. Some people, like me, thrive on a bit of stress and are stressed when we have a lull in our lives. Go figure, eh?

So (drum roll) here is my take on stress. You have to find a strategy to deal with it as it comes to you. It is impossible to run and hide from stress or to avoid it. Impossible. You have to find a way to roll with the punches, as it were. Find your joy (some say passion) and concentrate your free time on that. Help others if you have the means to do that. Be a contributor to the betterment of the world around you in some way.

None of us know if we have another day. That is out of our control. Accept the limitations life throws at you and do the best you can. What more can be expected of us (even by ourselves?)

As I tell people who create their own stress, worry is like a rocking chair, it keeps you busy but doesn't get you anywhere.

I hope this helps,

thanbey
