Hey all~
This is kind of a strange question but I was just curious if they have a vitamin on the market that slows down a metabolism? The reason why I am asking is because my boyfriend is 6'0" and weighs about 140 pounds and he eats all of the time but can't gain any weight...Hope someone can answer or atleast help me out with this...thanks

Angel of Faith - Your Boyfriend is Lucky.. There are many who wish they had his problem.......
BUT, I think you can fix that. Over the next month or two make sure he starts eating lots of Cheeses, Nuts, and especially carbohydrates, like potatoes, bread, pasta, and the like (butter on the potatoes and bread, cheese and tomato sauce on the pasta). Dont take his word for it... Watch him eat... For good measure add in a few beers or drinks at dinner and maybe some cake and or ice cream for dessert.
Then there will be no way that he (or you) will have this problem anymore. :D :D :D

Thanks for the post TheHappyMan. My boyfriend hates being so skinny...I wish I had a high metabolism like he did...hahaha....I try to feed him stuff that is high in carbs but I think with all the eating he does now will catch up to him when he gets older since he is only 22 right now...Once again thanks for the post I appreciate your information...::hugs::

You are most welcome, Angel of Faith - I hope my suggestions do help your Boyfriend gain some weight - BUT I would like to add that if he starts consuming many of the "rich foods" I listed, his Cholesterol may go up.............
Fatty and Rich Foods do that sort of thing..... So he may want to check it several times a year. Good Luck there ;) ;) ;)

It's most likely your bf has a high thyroid output which causes incomplete food processing. He might also have poor intestine absorption; the sign of which is frequent bowl movements. This is great for our society because we have so much food available. However in the past your bf wouldn't have survived the frequent famines. He can count himself lucky.
One way to gain weight is to eat more carbs like pasta and bread. However, it's usually a one way street. Once you gain on carbs it becomes very hard to lose again. You can also trick your body by eating sugar at night just before bed. This causes certain hormones to be inhibited and more fat to be stored.
If you have trouble with weight gain, then absolutely no sugar of any kind 4 hours before bed is a must.

Hi, firstly thanks for your reply to me. Maybe im worring about nothing, but it makes me feel better when reasured.. i'm a very anxious person at the best of times. Anyway, about your Boyfriend... I do a lot of weight training and at the minute i'm gaining weight as part of my program. I'm also tall (6"2) and have a high metabolism. The best thing for your boyfriend to do is buy some weight gain. This stuff comes in powder form and it can be blended with milk or water, you will be able to buy it from most health and fitness stores, and its best to have a couple of glasses a day between meals. Basically its just full of high quality calories, and you will see the gains in no time. Or even better, if he started pumping iron, that would put weight on him in a matter of weeks. Plus you could go to the gym together.

Make him alot of cookies, desserts and make them the fatty kind, cheese cake, etc. He can buy weight gainer, you can get it in a drink form, has about 3000 calories, or you can go to a heslth food store and they would have food, like chocolate peanute butter balls, they are a weight gainer, alot of calories, but also still has the nutritional values, he should have rather than filling up on butter, sugar etc. which will cause weight but icky weight. good luck!!

I agree with one of the previous posters about Thyroid issues. Since he's a guy chances are he hasn't had a physical in a while. We all hate to do that kind of stuff and put it off as much as possible. Have him make an appointment and run some standard blood tests along with thyroid tests to make sure everything is kosher. If it's enough for you and him to consciously deal with and worry about, what's the harm in getting checked out?
You are supposed to consult a physician before you start exercise routines or dramatically change eating habits anyway. :)
