When is it safe to stop sterilizing bottles? I'm going away for the weekend in a couple of weeks and wanted to know if I really need to pack the sterilizer. My baby girl is 2 months old :)
Thnx P.J.

My personal opinion is that you should keep doing it. Mh DH and I faithfully sterilized our DD's bottles until she switched to sippy cups at 11 months. It's quite possible that we didn't need to do it that long, but it certainly made us feel better. I admit, it was a pain, but worth it all at the same time. But again, that was just our personal preference to continue to sterilize. But I would say at least keep doing it for now since she's only 2 months.

I was always told by my Dr and Ped. that you didn't have to sterilize bottles except for the first time you used them. Only if there is some sort of problem like prematurity or sickness. My DD was almost 2 months premature and I only sterilized until she was 3 months old, at that time she was 6 1/2 lbs and the Dr told me I could pack mine away. HTH

Hey PJ

Honestly I have only sterilized Avery's bottles a handful of times.. I read in a baby book somewhere that as long as they are washed in hot soapy municipal (not well water) water they should be fine.... Avery has only been sick one day... and she is almost 15 lbs going on 4 months old... At your next dr's appt you should discuss that with him/her and see how they feel about it.. hope you have a good weekend away whenever you go!!!!
