I had an ultrasound and a mammogram last week as i had found a lump about the size of a dime in my breast. About a week before my apt to have the ultrasound and mam. i found another lump...smaller and near the surface( the first one seems quite deep)
Both lumps can be felt. So when i went to get the tests done the lab people did the ultrasound first...thinking they were just cysts. neither showed on the ultrasound so i was sent for the Mammogram.
I saw my doctor and he told me my mammogram was fine to. Nothing showed. I am a bit confused as how these can be felt but not seen.
I am 32 years old. Never had cysts or any types of lumps before. They have been i my breast through 2 cycles and haven't changed during it. They don't hurt...other than a bit of a dull buring once in a while.
Any ideas?
My doctor is sending me to a breast surgeon...as my doctor says that he doesn't like to leave lumps that can't be determined in...

i am waiting patiently for the breast surgeons office to call...

should i be worried about cancer still? My doc thinks they are just cysts..

thank you...

twiggy,

I've been reading your posts - I'm in a very similar boat. I'm 24 and found a lump in my right breast, went to a doctor, he thought it was a cyst, waited for 2 weeks and then tried to drain it but couldn't so he sent me to the breast surgery clinic. I had an ultra-sound and it showed 2 lumps. The doctor told me that they will need to be taken out (they're uncomfortable and so I can't ignore them), he didn't sound too worried but I sure am. He also ordered biopsy before going with a general anastesia... I'm trying hard not to think about it.

I know the feeling and I'm scared out of my wits. On the positive side I have several friends who went through the same thing (some of them are nurses)and reassured me that in most cases lumps in breast are benign but I'm still very worried... Bumps are very obvious and painful especially during the cycle, so that I can't even sleep on my stomach...

The worst thing is the wait. I hope things will turn out OK for you and that your lumps are cysts and nothing to be worried about...

so sorry to hear you are going thru this too...it is awful...the waiting..
I just want to know that all is good...and get on with life.
Everyone says not to worry...but you can't not worry...there is that small chance that it is something...all the 'what if's'
Please let me know how you do...and i will to if i ever hear from the surgeon's office!! AHHHHHHHH!
:)

hugs,
Twiggy
