Is Adderall normally prescribed for people who also have depression and anxiety? Because, I took it for 5 days, and it made my vocal cord dysfunction kick in and gave me a racing heart. I was up all night and had no appetite--I ate almost nothing. I was almost manic...I felt like I was going to go to grad school, write a hundred books, become a professor... It also made me extremely obsessive. Then I stopped taking it, and I had a panic attack/crying fit. It was scary!
PS.. I'm not trying to slander the drug, I'm sure it works for a lot of people, but I was wondering if my doc knew what he was doing when he gave it to me...?

Wow, sounds like the dosage was way too high for you. Did you take the meds on an empty stomach and chug a gallon of coffee after? The "mania" thing is what some people describe when they're on way too high a dosage for an extended period of time. Sounds kinda scary.

It was 15 mgs. I actually tried to abstain from coffee while I was on it, except the other day when I went to the bookstore... had to have my latte...that's what kept me up all night, I think.
I'm going to give it another shot tomorrow and really make sure I do everything right (take it before 9 a.m., with food, no chocolate, etc.)
I just wonder if that was because of my anxiety?

No, it's not and, in fact, is contra-indicated for patients with anxiety.

Yes, I'm wondering that, too.

You may want to see if the side effects wear off because you just started the meds. If that doesn't work, maybe you could try ritalin. I don't feel crazy I actually feel normal SO FAR. I've only been on it a week(same as you we started the same day lol) so it could be a matter of trial and error. How have you been lately?

Hey. Yeah, I gave it another chance, but it practically gave me a panic attack and I was up all night struggling to get a breath. On top of that, it made me WEIRD. I don't know how to explain that. I was like Obsessive Manic Weirdo. Then when I stopped it, I kept crying all day. It messed with me in a bad way. Funny how different drugs affect people differently.

So did you completely quit taking it? Maybe you should try Ritalin, I find to have a mild effect on me. Although everybody is different. Ritalin has been used for years and appears to be very sare. Adderall seems to be a potent stimulant because I was reading how many people experience tachcardia, major weight loss and a lot of other symptoms. I'm scared to take Adderall, however, I did read a lot of postive responses related to the drug too. So, I dunno.
