Peterfrank 03-08-2005, 05:39 AM undefined Hey just got a quik question. does HIV/AIDS show up on a standard blood test or do you need to specifically ask for it? Thanks pete browneyedsusie 03-08-2005, 08:35 AM The province I live in you have to ask for it...and also give written consent , unless you are pregnant then it is part of routine blood work! Peterfrank 03-08-2005, 06:47 PM So i am confused :s do you need to ask for it or not? memakes3 03-09-2005, 10:08 AM yes you need to ask for it. Most dr.s will not do a routine hiv test unless there is a problem leading him to think you are at risk for the virus, or if You ask for it. Usually there will be a consent form to sign. This can also be done anonymously by number rather than name. There are now blood free hiv tests that you can get the results in about 30 minutes and they use a swab rather than blood. Don't know how accurate it is...but I did see this posted at a local clinic. Good luck to you. Lenin 03-09-2005, 05:43 PM You MUST ask! And some states DEMAND the results go to a database. And some states demand contact tracing if positive. |
