I recently got over the flu which i had for a good three weeks. Wile i was sick with the flu i had a small white painless canker sore on my cheek right before i got better another one popped up on the inside of my lower lip. Wile i was sick i was on the internet reading about canker sores and i read they are a early sign of hiv infection so needless to say i have been freaking out. another thing i thought i would mention is the mucus membranes in my mouth on my inside upper and lower lips have really enlarged. for the past month or so i have been constintly sweeping my mouth with my tonge checking for canker sores out of paranoia so i may have irritated something. I went to the Dr his advice drink water and gatoraid and stay hydrated. I'm not sure if this could have anything to do with my mouth problems but i just got over a two year powder cocaine addiction and i was sniffing heavy daily. I have been clean for over a month now. Any comments will be appreciated, thanks.

If you don't go get tested (if you think you had a possible exposure) then your gonna make yourself even more sick. It's a simple blood test really...I'm sure you know that. Looking for symptoms on the internet and message board really doesn't do anything except maybe give you some "relief" if even that. But I doubt anyone on here is a Doctor, therefore no one can diagnose you and say for certain if you in fact have it. Just get yourself down to a clinic, get tested, wait for the results and go on living life.

I used to have a problem w/chronic canker sores....i talked to my dentist about it, and it's caused by a virus in the herpes family ( ITS NOT THE HERPES VIRUS ITSELF) and it happens to alot of people....do your parents or other family members get them? my mom does...anyhow, they happen to everyone once in awhile, and then there are the less fortunate who used to have one every month...they're also caused by colds/flus viruses most of the time...where did you read its an early sign of hiv? have you engaged in risky behavior?
