I have been getting pains after eating my meals for a week now. A dull ache, not sharp. Anyone else feel this way on this forum? What could it be?
My doctor told me to start taking Prevacid and I'm scheduled for a gastroscopy and an abdominal sonogram.
I'm scared to death that it could be stomach or colon cancer.

First of all, how old are you and don't jump to conclusions. The two things you listed, stomach and colon cancer, really depend on age. I don't think colon cancer would cause problems right after eating but stomach cancer would. However, age is an important factor to consider. Also, many people suffer from stomach aches and the vast majority do not have stomach cancer. Some symptoms that require medical advice include:
vomiting for more than a few days, or immediately if it contains blood.
unexplained or sudden weight loss (major cause of concern for a lot of types of cancer)
difficulty swallowing
persistent abdominal pain
In conclusion, have your tests done before you get too worried.

I wouldn't worry yourself to death about this, it is probably making the pain worse. It could be many things that are easily treated with antibiotics. ex. ulcer, gastritis, Acid reflux/Gerd. I have mild gastritis that causes pain after meals as well as full feeling after only a few bites. I also have Gallbladder problems that cause pain, bloating, and nausea.
Go for your tests and don't worry!

THANK YOU BOTH for your responses. It was so appreciated!
I'm 39. I know I am young for stomach cancer but I've abused my stomach for just about 20 years now with NES = Night Eating Syndrome. It's something I do that I have no control over and most doctors don't know about it or don't care when I tell them. It can't be good to eat (a cookie, a piece of cheese, a cracker etc...) at night when your body should be resting.
Anyway, what freaks me out is that I only have the dull pain AFTER I eat and I have to eat so I have pain and it's been going on for just over a week now! Wouldn't I have constant all day pain with gastritis and ulcers? I have no heartburn, no blood in stools or vominting or even nausia, so I guess that's a good sign.
What make me so mad is that I can't get any real tests done for another 2 weeks and the doctor I went to visit dismissed me when I was in his office. How can I live this way and not be freaked out? I feel like I'd end up in the ER before my tests happen.
Again, thank you both, you have no idea how your postes made me feel more at ease with my pain.
Have a good day!

I'm going through the same problem as you. It's like I have to eat to get rid of the pain, but once I eat the pain gets worse. I feel bloated, sometimes have to run to the bathroom. Except my stomach does hurt all day. It's in constant pain , it doesn't matter what I do. I have an appoinment with my gyn. doctor on the 21st. So maybe I should tell him to run every test there is, cause I'm scared myself. I'm only 21 and this has been going on for almost 2 years.

Good for you...........
But like others have said don't panic. It makes sense you would only feel symptons after you eat - this is in line with gastritis/ulcers/GERD (not reflux)/leaky gut syndrone/Food alergies.

What is the difference between GERD and acid reflux?
I have Crohn's disease, gastritis, esophagitis and acid reflux that hits the spot in the lower throat/upper esophagus between the collarbone area. Constant very sore there - in fact I had one vomiting episode this past summer for some reason and I threw up blood from that spot. Pretty sore. Am seeing my gastro doc Monday because stomach and reflux getting worse despite double strength PPI and Zantac. Scared he will want to do an endo and make that spot bleed. Also with my allergy to carba mix in natural and synthetic rubber - fluroinated rubber is in the scope tip and angles I am afraid of swelling up in the esophagus and throat. I swelled up in my sinuses from an ENT sinus scope like 8 hours later. If that happened i would be at home. My doc is not too sympathetic since it was found out via patch testing but even band aids fester me up (carba mix in adhesives). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
