View Full Version : Swiss balls for injured disc.

I was thinking about getting a swiss ball to exercise on. People I know that have back injuries keep telling me they swear by then and it makes the back feel so much better. A guy my husband works with was in a car accident and they used the exercise balls in physical therapy and it really helped. Has anyone had experience with these and would they recommend them? I have a L5-S1 disc protrusion. I can walk on my treadmill for 20 minutes at 1.0 mile per hour and it feels good. It has helped me get better. I wonder if I would be ready to try a swiss ball. I would hate to do something on it to hurt myself. I am undecided so far. I know I will eventually but are they good if someone has pain?

You need a doctor/PT to advise you on that. I go in the therapy pool at the Y a couple of times a week.
