So, heres the deal...When I have a bowel movement...it does't all come out. Its not constipated..cuz my stool is soft. However, I need to strain to empty my bowels. ONly small amounts come out at a time...

i could feel the poop in my rectum..aughh...and it caused or irritated hemmhroids. Soo....i finally found relief in some sort of disposable rectal douche..or....enema. so, now when I go...i have to use this...othewise...I'm on the pot all day, trying to push it out. omosh..i can't believe i'm sharing this info!!!!!!!!!!

Yes..sometimes blood, lots of mucus in stool. Occasional loose bowels..

I've actually stopped eating but once a day..cuz I'm so miserable. I'm scheduled for a colonoscopy...counting down the dayz.... Anyone else relate to this???? Anyone else had these symptoms??? It seems to me some sort of blockage or something...right?

First of all, how old are you? Have you had babies? Your problems sound a lot like mine. I have been to my family doctor, gastrointerologist, and OBGYN. No doctor can tell me anything. My OBGYN was going to refer me to a place where they do biofeedback. It was on the other side of the state and plus I didn't know if my insurance would take care of it. So I just left it at that. She told me it was something to do with my pelvic muscles. I hope to one day find out exactly what can be done for this problem. It seems to be very rare because your post is the first one I've seen with this same problem. So have you had your colonoscopy? Let me know how it goes.

Could be just that your rectum feels full all the time and you actually usually don't have to go. So you sit there trying to force out nothing or very little and so just a little stool comes out or a little blood and/or mucus. This is called tenesmus and it can be caused by many things including internal hemorrhoids. I had this feeling for a while and felt the same way as you. It took me a while to realize it was just a full feeling in the rectum but not actually full. In my case the gastroenterologist looked and saw a fissure way in there. I guess that can cause it, too. Do get it checked out by a specialist, though. The doctor should be able to see what it causing that problem.

I agree, this is called tenesmus, and I've had this problem due to internal hemmroids and a nasty fissure.

Surgery corrected the fissure, and insoluble fiber helps the hemmroids big time.

Nevertheless, I recommend a colonoscopy, just to make sure you don't have any inflammation (Protcitis, IBD, etc.)

But before you do this, you may want to try some serious dietary modification. Lots of fiber, no "sticky" stuff like chocolate and ice cream, dairy.

Remember too, that anxiety can cause rectal spasms and tenesmus. It does this to me. I worry before getting on the pot, then clench down, etc.

If dietary modification and stress reduction doesn't work, go get scoped. I just had it done, and it was nothing. Felt like it took 10 minutes, and I sat in the recovery room watching the baseball game (yes, the White Sox have the best record in baseball!)
