I had a drug problem and was not the most active parent for the first nine months of his life. My son loves me regardless and knows I'm doing my best. I live with my parents hoping to get all the advice and guidance I can but I feel like they are criticizing me nore than helping me. I know I can't let him cry for more than 20 mins at a stretch but they start flipping out at 5 mins. I'm doing my best but somethings gotta give. At 10 1/2 months old he has eight front teeth and is growing molars. Is that normal? I just don't know what to do.

Babies are really hard especially at this age. 9-12 months were some of the hardest times for me. When your baby cries it's because he needs something. Maybe it is just you that he needs. If you respond to his cries right away you are showing him that he can trust you to try and meet his needs. Seperation anxiety is really strong at this age, and they cry a lot to be held. The time will pass very quicky but for now you should respond to him crying right away. It will teach him trust which will make him an easier baby when he gets older. If you let him cry even for 5 minutes it's teaching him that he has to keep crying to get your attention and that will be harder on you in the long run.

Good luck and good for you on staying clean!!
