Well, I have had ulcerative colitis for 15 years. I’ve been in remission for the past 7 years.
Last Sat I started having diarrhea. I increased my normal dose of fiber and still having diarrhea.
Here the issue. I’m very gassy. When I pass gas I’m having some discharge. Just a little. However, it is wet and looks like mucus. I have not seen the blood yet. However, I’m expecting it soon.
I’m much stressed currently and I do have an apt with a gastro dr.

The blood started Sat nite! Man oh man! The dr put me on Flagal. I'm not takinf 5-8 fiber tablets a day. I'll be starting my a veggie diet today (sunday).
Any other ideas? Is that too much fiber?

Mudhound when Im flairing I have to give my intestines a rest. For me that a low fiber diet. Has the high fiber helped your U.C in the past? Are you on any U.C meds, like Asacol? Let the Dr know that you are now bleeding. I hope that you can get back into remission.

No other meds yet. Wow, after being in remission for 7 + years. Yes the high fiber has helped in the past. Also, I think it was a part of why i was in remission for so long. I'll be talking with the dr about the bleeding monday.

Let us know what the Dr says..Do you think the stress is what caused you to flair?

Sorry to hear you had a flare up, its a right bummer (pardon the pun) when it happens.
My colitus usually come when I am on holiday, probably caused by the stress of getting ready. i use pred foam enemas, qiute easy to use and I keep a spare box, which I now take on holiday just in case.

I first got UC when I bought my first flat, I think mine is deffo stress related, I can't each chilli either(unforunatly) I have had it for around 20 years now, on and off.

Good luck clearing yours up.

boy is this weird. I have some days without D and other days at least 20-22 times a day. All with blood. I'm going in for a colonscopy later this month. I sure hope this clears up soon.

I wonder why some days you have no D, do you change what you eat on certain days? Mine is constant when I have an attack, getting less frequent when it is clearing up.

good luck with the colonoscopy ;)
