I am fifteen and I've had two swollen lymph nodes in my neck for about two years. I also can feel a few others but they are much smaller. I also have a small one in my chin. The two most notable ones are both smaller then my thumb. However, one is almost the same size. I had an appointment made about two years ago when I first felt them and the doctor said it was probably due to a virus. He also said I shouldn't worry unless they get any bigger. It's been two years though and they haven't swelled down but they haven't got noticeably bigger either. I was finally able to convince my parents to make another appointment for next week. I'm just wondering if I should be concerned about this. Also what other symptoms should I be looking for?

If they've been swollen for this long does it mean it's nothing to worry about? Wouldn't it have gotten bigger by now? I would appreciate anyone's comment or opinion.

I too have exactly the same lumps you described in my neck. I have had them sisnce puberty I am now 23. They have never got any bigger and I've never found anymore. I have a large one the size of a five pence piece in my right side of my neck, and then 3 small ones on the left side, which feel deeper. Also, I notice that my nipples have small lumps behind. The doctore said not to concern myself unless they got bigger, or very sore, or more came about.
I do get worried about them too, but console myself with what the coctor said and keep an eye on them.

Hello gandrud, I just read your post and want you to know I have them too but I am 46 and mine are enlarging. I am a lymphoma patient with many symptoms not just the swollen nodes. Your docter is right and I have been told that before my next biopsy he wants them little larger. Do you have any thing else going on or do ya feel fine except for the nodes and do they brother you in anyway? If you are uncomfortable about them you should see your dr. I am not taking any treatment cause not needed for what is going on right now but they are watching me and I call if they get any bigger before my next appt. You are so young to be worring about this and if you do not believe your dr. get another opinion and let it go if he agrees that its cool. Go have fun and have fun for me too!

I felt compelled to reply to you. You are being misinformed. Cancer has no prejudice to age it strikes infants through elderly. No one is to young. I am in remission due to hodgkins disease and guess what I was diagnosed at 20. I was told oh your too young to worry about cancer. I two just had a couple of knots in my neck no big deal right. Guess what mine didnt grow or atleast they didnt feel any bigger. You know i was to young to have cancer it was nothing to worry about it wasnt growing. I was told this by my own doctor. These are not educated anwsers. If someone tells you that demand proof by blood work , CT or PET scans, or Biopsy take no ones word its noyhing not even your doc. They are quick to dismiss the notion of cancer in otherwise healty young people. There is a wide range of painless test that cant make a positive diagnosis and remember if a doc's opionion alone was enough the test would not exist . Chances are it nothing. However, when in doubt have test ran insist on it. Its your life . Over 6 months I listend to my docs hasty dismissal of cancer. I ended up in the last stage 4 b hodgkins lymphoma the next is death. Sure there is no pain at first but if you should let it get to where the doc let mine it will be like nothing you have felt in your entire life. For a peace of mind and health. GET THE TEST DONE.
