Hi,
My 5 year old daughter has been complaining of a tummy ache off and on for several weeks now. Her Dr. has ran several blood tests and everything turned out ok...cbc, metabolic panel, and mono test. The only tests that were a little off were her sedimentation rate and lymph. Her sed rate was 23 with normal being 0-21 and her lymph was 53 with normal being 30-40. Her Dr. now is saying he thinks her abdominal pain is psychological or due to gas.

The problem is she complains about it constantly. She usually says it feels like "somone is pushing on her stomach really hard". But, the other night at the store she actually hunched over in pain and started crying. This was the only time it has gotten this bad and it went away within a minute or so.

Any ideas as to what might be causing her stomach pain? Are there any other tests I should ask to have done?
I would appreciate any input.
Thanks, Hilery

First I want to say how sorry I am to hear of your daughter's problems. My daughter is of the same age and if my daughter was having problems like yours, I would be out of my mind alot more than I am now due to my own problems. I can only suggest to see I GI specialist to run more detailed tests until you can actually say it's a "mind" thing. I have a problem accepting that a young girl such as your daughter can have psych problems that are causing what you are describing unless there are are factors that you know could be causing them such as a divorce, pet death, relative or friend death,... you see what I mean. Good luck with her and keep us posted!

Thank you for your reply.
I'm going to get her into another Dr. this week for a 2nd opinion. Maybe, then, we can get a referral to a specialist. Last night she was up from 3am to 5am with abdominal pain. I listened to her stomach with my stethoscope and I've never heard anything like it. There was a constant popping sound mixed in with rumbling, but it was non-stop. I could even feel the popping when I put my hand over her stomach.

Thanks again, Hilery

I just wanted to add one more thing. I've also noticed that lately her breath smells really awful...even after she brushes her teeth. I didn't know if that could somehow be related to her stomach problems or not. She has also broken out with a rash all over her upper body today. It's mainly on her back and chest...having a red bumpy appearance.
