hi i am new here i had found a lump on the left side of my neck it's about the size of a pea.it's a little ways down from my earlobe.i am wondring if this is something to be concerned with?it has been there for about 1 month or so. i also have been experencing some hoarsness in my voice i dont have a sore thraot just been really tired and crabby.i have lost weight due to subclinical hyperthyroidism.(which my dr. is taking a wait and see approach on that)just wondering if i should do a wait and see approach on this lump too.any suggestions are appreciated.thank you.

There are many reasons for throat/neck lumps. Since you're already being evaluated for a thyroid condition - it may be worth asking this question on the thyroid board.

Here's an article on neck lumps:
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003098.htm

Hi -

If it were me, I would have it looked at by an oncologist just for peace of mind if nothing else. He/she can tell you if it is anything to worry about. Why wait and wonder? The hoarseness and loss of weight may mean something else is going on. Let us know!

You can search for information on biopsies on the site I posted previously.

Good luck,
Jay
