View Full Version : TMD/J? Impacted Wisdom Tooth? Desperate for help...

For about the past 3 months, I've been having numbness, and slight pain on the left side of my body, as well as nausea and slight facial paralysis. I've had 2 CAT scans that have shown no brain problems such as anuerysm, stroke, or tumor (although I'm thinking about getting an MRI). I've also been seeing a chiropractor for back and neck misalignments.

At my last Doctor's appt, and my last chiro appt, I discussed the possibility or TMD/TMJ and was told that this could be a possible problem. Also lately, I've been having pain my lower jaw on the left side. About 15 years ago, I had my eye and stomach teeth removed, and because of that, the dentist never recommended that I have my wisdom teeth removed. However, with the recent pain and the problems on my left side, it has come to my attention that this may be caused by an impacted wisdom tooth. The tooth itself is fully crowned over the gum, and has been fine for years, but about 6 months ago, the retaining brace on my bottom front teeth broke off, and the teeth have begun to shift, possibly pushing migrating back into the jaw slightly and causing all of these problems. I'm currently uninsured and have since moved away from where my dentist is located. I was looking for insight or suggestions into the matter before I consult my dentist (and have to pay all the money that I don't really have)

Here's a basic breakdown of symptoms:

Nausea (mostly like motion sickness, leads to lack of appetite)
Eye pain/dryness
Slight facial paralysis
Heaches (almost exclusively on the left side)
Clicking and Hissing (sometimes violent "crunching" sounds when opening jaw to full open, which I try to avoid.)
General "ODD" feeling in left arm and leg
Slight loss of feeling in left toes and fingers from time-to-time.
Loss of taste/alkaline taste on the back left side of my tongue
General "nervous" feeling in left side.

This problem begins to make me feel depressed due to the constant ILL feeling and inability to eat normally. 2 Trips to the ER, multiple trips to the Chiropractor, and many trips to the doctor have yeilded nothing more than speculation. I'm becoming desperate for help or more solid ideas of causes to this, and would GREATLY appreciate any help.

Thanks in advance.
