Just wondering if the problems I am having with my eyes are connected to Hep C. Off and on over the past year or so I feel like some there is something sharp in my eye, It only attacks one eye at a time but it's happened in both eyes. Then, suddenly after about a week or so, it is as tho my eye explods and the white is bright red and feels bruised.. I went to doctor and each time they give me drops for eye infection. But I think it is something more. Going to an eye doctor monday, but I think I need to see a specialist. Is there eye problems connected to Hep C. My vision was 20/17 and now I am nearly blind even with glasses. I am 59 and I know the eyesight goes with age. But it seems to be going rappidly. Anyone know anything about the eyes and Hep C? Can this be associated with Hep C. Otherwise I am in good health. No other problems with Hep C.

Hello Torry,
I would be interested to hear what the opthamologist had to say. I had to get a pass from a retinal specialist before I was allowed to do treatment. However, I do have retina pigmentosa in the family.I now have it after treatment. I also developed a cataract. These might have happened w/ or w/o the hepc, but I was 36 at the time so I think the hepc played a part in the early development. But ,I smiled when I read your post because just the other day I tried to fish what felt like a boulder out of my eye!! Took all day and alot of patience , but I got it out!! lol Don't know what it was , but what a relief !

I went an eye doctor and he said I did have cataracts and my vision was quite poor. He said the redness was due to dry eyes. I have discovered something. I seem to get dry eyes when I do not drink alot of water and consume coffee during the day. I am wondering if this may cure alot of dry eyes people have, simply not enough water in the system???? I have realized when I go days without drinking alot of water, then suddenly my eyes begin to burn with the onset of dry eye. Makes me wonder, it sounds logical. But the cataracts are just probably old age.
