Can anyone please help / advise. I have a stomach complaint. Started 8 months ago with burning in chest ( feels like reflux that sometimes reaches the mouth ), painful throat and larynx, swallowing difficulty with a little blood in saliva ( blood has stopped now ). I had barium meal and swallow 4 Months ago and apart from a little reflux there was nothing abnormal, no follow up tetst were given. 2 Months ago the burning is still there and I now expereince a lot of gas feelings in stomach and the stomach feels sore but not tender to touch. I get occasional pain in the mid line of the stomach. I also get bowel problems ( soft stools with urgency to go ) and occasional constipation. This syndrome seems to settle during the night but starts again soon after getting up. I eat okay, weight is okay.
Should I be reassured by the barium meal and swallow as I presume the eosphogus and stomach were imaged ?. What could this be ?

I had symptoms like that for a few months before I was diagnosed with ulcers. I even had the soft stools with urgency that you mentioned. I think it's all related to acid build-up. To diagnose them you will need an endoscope test (as far as I know). Does eating affect your pains in any way? In my case, I often had bad pain right after I started eating, but then within an hour or so my stomach usually felt better than before I ate anything. Other times I felt that there wasn't a relationship at all - it just hurt period!
