I had a stage 1 malignant melanoma removed last Fall. My dermatologist ordered a chest x-ray and a blood test when I was first diagnosed. I am wondering if anyone knows what the blood test was looking for/measuring? Was it protein levels (i.e. total protein, globulin, etc.)?
Thanks!

Hi Nicole
I am also a MM patient (stage 11B) but have never had chest xray and blood tests other than usual fare for the work up prior to the WLE which is of course hospital policy. Now because I live in Canada, maybe this makes a difference to you if you live in the states or elsewhere.
I have been going to my cancer hospital mm clinic now every three months and have had CT scans but never any more 'x-rays'
maybe the blood is to check other things..... we get blood tests here with our annual physicals, and because I am also hypothyroid I have those tests also to make sure my TSH levels are ok (nothing at all to do with MM)
sorry I cannot be of more help
Bonnie
