Hey all, I'm 47 and always had these huge breast I hated size DD since I was 15. I dreaded what they would look like in my 40's and 50's and always swore I would have them reduced. All of a sudden as i'm going through the change they are shrinking I'm down to a small C or large B. I'm not complaining! Is any one else finding this happening to them? My weight has really not changed over the last few years so it's not because I have lost weight they just got smaller? They don't look any different, I mean they look 47 but being smaller it is alot easier to find bras ( I can buy off the rack now) and shirts are easier to find. I like the change.

I am going through menopause and my breasts have gotten smaller too. Also, I notice, they are tender to the touch. I talked to my Doc. and he saisd this is very normal. I am on Activella and before I went on HRT- I was a raving lunatic. I hated everyone and everything. I just wanted to be alone and was miserable when I was.......CRAZY. My husband is very understnading and has talked to my OB-GYN and that hasa helped that he understnands why I was so nuts...are you taking hormones? I was 42 when I started menopause-I had a tube and overy removed fro a tumor. I am fine.....glad to hear that you are dressing well!!!!! Kahlia

Hi Kilter,
I know our breasts suppose to become denser as we get older, esp. for those with larger breast size and your mammograms might start looking different too.
Going from a DD to a B or C is a pretty drastic change and you said they look the same. Maybe you might not be losing pounds but inches - have you been working out? Maybe they are making the bra sizes different now? I once had a saleslady measure me to make sure I was buying the right size - you might want to have that done and see if it's right.

I had my uterus and cervix taken out 3 years ago ( I had only had a IUD for 2 years and it perforated my uterus) but kept my rt and left ovary. I noticed my cycles were staring to skip a few years ago based on my PMS food cravings and breast tenderness of course I don't have bleeding to go by since the uterus is gone. I don't take any hormones. I hadn't thought about working out but that might have made the difference. My caboose Little Paul age 7 is severly disabled and having the 20 year or so difference between my 2nd child and third means I'm alot more active now then I was in my 30's. He's 65lbs and needs alot of lifting. My OB gyn says some women notice a change in size with the normal reduction in hormones. It would make sense that the hormones of pregnancy enlarge our breast so the lost of hormones in or 40's and 50's would reduce their size. Just wondering if other women are experience this?

Maybe the Estrogen levels dropped too low. Estrogen is the main cause of breast growth.
If the Estrogen E2 gets too low it can cause many other problems in your health.
Your doc can test for E1, E2, & E3.

You give me hope! I have big 40 DD's that I hate. I'm 42 and they've gotten bigger since I got on the pill years ago. I was a 36 C. I'm hoping for an early menopause. I have to be on the pill for painful cramps and fibroids. I can't wait for some shrinkage because I feel like a porn star freak.

I saw my OB-GYN for a check up and we talked about the change again. She said my change of life is moving along fine. As far as the positive change in my breast size. She has a couple of ideals. With out the uterus and lack of monthly bleeding ,cramps, etc. I'm much more active which has helped to reduce my Body fat. I have been seeing her for close to 20 years and other then pregnancy my weight really has not changed over that time. She said most women gain some weight between their 20's and 40's so any reduction in breast size would not be noticed because of the extra weight. She also said my larger breast size was influenced by my hormone levels ( they would get even larger when I was on the pill or pregnant- more so then other women, I had to wear a F cup when pregnant) the normal lower levels of my age group have reduced the amount of fatty breast tissue. i think it's great. Keep the faith suncat, and watch the weight gain.
