View Full Version : Follow-up endoscopy for ulcers?

A couple of months ago I was diagnosed with two small non-hplyori ulcers (blood tests negative). I've been on meds for about 6 weeks. My doc says I need to have another endocopy since ulcers can sometimes turn malignant and also just to make sure it's healed. I've never heard of such a thing and he does stike me as being a bit out for the $$$ but I could be wrong. Is this standard - I'm a 40yo otherwise healthy woman?

Another question - is gastritis and ulcer the same thing? In the recovery room after my first endo, doc said that I had two small ulcers and to come back for the follow-up endo in 6 weeks, but see him in his office in 4 weeks. When I went for the appointment we talked about my ulcers. Then I finally got the lab report a few days ago which said that I had gastritis and to see him in 3 MONTHS unless I got worse. No mention of any ulcers. Is gastritis and ulcers pretty much the same thing and is there a cancer connection?

I'd say that my stomach is 90% better, but I did have a bit of a relapse after eating some pineapple. :nono:

(I really don't want to have another endo unless it's absolutely necessary - even though it wasn't a really big deal).
