I have posted on the menopause board but this one might be more appropiate.
This is my problem sorry if it is a bit long.
I had premature ovarian failure at age 33 and have had no periods for 15 years. For all that time i have been on HRT called climesse.I have started bleeding every day for the past month with no previous bleeding. I have been to the doc and he is arranging an urgent appointment with a gynaecologist. The thing is I had CIN 11 cervical dysplasia treated at age 20 then had normal smears for several years, then stupidly i did not have a smear from 1997 until about 6 months ago. This came back as an unsuitable speciman, it was repeated 3 months later, this also came back as a unsuitable specimen. So what i am trying to ask you out there is, could it be a return of cervical dysplasia or what could it be. The doc said it is definitely not fibroids.I am 47 and am frightened it is cancer. Has anyone been in the same situation and what was the diagnosis, Thanks

I haven't been in your situaton. However, a return of cervical dysplasia is certainly possible. Irregular bleeding is one of the first signs. I wouldn't fear cancer right away but i do think your treatment has been questionable, at best. If the pap specimen is unsatisfactory twice, I think you should be asking your gynecologist about 2 tests that are highly accurate: ThinPrep Pap and HPV DNA Test...combined, these are 95% accurate. Also it may be time to do colposcopy and biopsy. I think you should ASK for those tests and insist. Your diagnosis should be clear after that. Good luck :)
