Only during an outbreak of HSV1 can you catch it mainly. It would not show up on your mouth my friend just where she put hers if that is any comfort.

if you contract hsv1 on your genitals it can recur on your genitals. it cannot recur on your mouth unless you contracted it on your mouth as well. you will only have outbreaks in areas that came in contact with the herpes virus. you certainly could have hsv1 outbreaks on both your mouth and genitals (or ANYWHERE else on your body) but that would only happen if both areas had been in contact with the virus through skin-to-skin contact with someone during an outbreak or asymptomatic shedding. make sense?
