Hi,
I am wondering about the rash and itchiness that i have read about.
Right now i am fighting a cough that i have had for over 3 months...persistent productive cough (sounds like i smoke).
I have had a chest x-ray...and just did a sinus one today....been on antibiotics...steroids...3 diff. inhalers...and nothing will get rid of it...no idea what is causing it.
For the last year or so i have been getting an awful itchy rash under my arms. It only appears when i have a bath or shower...it doesn't appear in my actual armpit...but circles it...and down my side. It is to me like hives...but i am not sure. It is extremely itchy but goes away with in an hour.
I have not been able to figure out why?!
The lower part of my legs ( shins) itch unbelievably! I don't get a rash there...but have a bad habit of scratching till they bleed.
I also have a swollen gland ( at least it feels like it to me) on the side of my neck...it is bigger than the other side. that has been there for a very long time...never really thought much about it as it doesn't hurt.
I have also recently found two lumps in my breast...and am going to see a breast surgeon about them...
basically feel like i am falling apart.
I don't feel ill other than fatigue...very tired...oh and the night sweats...i wake up sweating so much....where i used to always be freezing....literally...
I am just really not sure what to think about all this. I have a doc apt this week and will talk to him about the rash and gland...
should i be concerned? does it sound like Lymphoma?
(Oh i am a 32 year old female...non smoking....)
thank you

You sound like a mess! I mean that with all sincerity. From your words, it does sound like lymphoma, but rashes can be caused by allergies, or just enlarged capillaries over responding to the heat of the shower. That is truly a head scratcher. The swollen glands and nodes sound like a disease that could be ranging from mono to HIV and all things in between. I hope you have a variety of minor annoyances that can be treated with allergy shots...

HA! I know...I hate even talking to friend about all the things happening as i feel like a big whiner! So i usually don't say much.
I am thinking of asking my Doc. straight out tomorrow about Lymphoma....see what he thinks.
What tests do they usually do to see if you have it?
I haven't had any blood work done for over a year..
i did have some swabs done for my cough...ruled out some infections etc...
One more question...
How long does can a person have Lymphoma before the symptoms show?
thanks for responding!

Hi Twiggy and Marimac,
I don't know if I am writing this in the write area because I don't have a reply, I have a question. Years ago a friend of mine had a HUGE swollen gland in her neck, she looked deformed. It did not hurt and she wasn't sick. Come to find out it was Lymphoma. She was 23 years old. Thank God she is still in remission and she is now 43 years old.
Well, getting to my question, My Mother was just sick with a high fever and two swollen glands in her neck that looked like she had the mumps. They hurt her so much and so did her throat, she was on antibiotices for a few weeks. Now the glands are down to the size of small balls and she no longer has a fever. She is tired and the glands don't hurt her anymore. She saw her doctor today but he didn't do anything for her. He wants to see her in 4 weeks. My question is, I never thought a person got physically ill where they need antibiotics or that the glands hurt at all. Could it be possible my Mother has Lymphoma even though her glands went down? I'm very worried about her.
God Bless You Both and I wish You both Good Health.

It sounds like your mother has had an infection. With lymphoma, nodes typically continue to grow until some sort of treatment is applied. It is quite common for nodes to linger long after an infection has passed.

The typical tests for lymphoma include, Xray of lungs to look for masses(tumors), a biopsy of the rash if the doctor thinks its warranted, they do a liver and kidney function test. They run the standard complete blood count test but that is to check for iron levels, and to see if there are any out of the ordinary counts. The complete blood count test will not diagnose lymphoma. If they get suspicious results on any of the previously mentioned tests, then they continue testing until the definitive diagnosis is made. Usually the biopsy tells the tale. If a biopsy comes back positive for lymphoma, then usually a bone marrow biopsy or other diagnostic procedures occur. But this is all dependent on who the doctor is and what their methods for treatment will be...

Hi again..
i woke up this morning to a new rash...one on my inner thighs...it is not itchy but hurts. I had a shower...and it wasn't there...about an hour later it appeared...
I was at my doctors a couple days ago and he has given me a new inhaler for this cough i have ( he is also sending me for a lung scan and redoing the Sputum lab test) ....i am wondering if it could be from the inhaler...i have been on it for 3 days now...no rash till today.
If it doesn't clear up in the next hour or so i think i will call him..
thanks for the info,
Twiggy
