Im not sure what happened today but after about a week and a half of suffering from classic TMJ symptoms, they seem to be going away now. I had a lower left wisdom tooth taken out about a month ago and then a minor car accident a few weeks later. Soon after I developed a horrible headache/earache/jaw pain and swelling which hasnt let up AT ALL. Ive been to the dentist twice, they just gave me meds and told me I would most likley need a splint later on. They took an x-ray but I havent seen the results yet.
Now, a week and a half later,
I noticed today my jaw would open TWICE as much as it would before...I could actually get some food in there without it touching my lips! Also, the swelling in my jaw went down quite a bit. In fact, for about an hour it felt like I was totally back to normal. I think I may have overdone it with opening and closing my mouth cause I am a little swollen again....but.....could I be healing? Could this just been a torn muscle from the operation and it is healing itself?
Thanks

Well I was wrong. Woke up this morning in that awful pain and, while the jaw does still open a little more than before, it was a pretty bad day pain-wise.
