Whats with lettuce.. I have IBS... and I ate cabbage(cole slaw) and a garden salad.. and I've had to use the BR like 10 times this morning and there is undigested lettuce in my stool... is lettuce just harder to digest?

I also have IBS, and have the same problem with lettuce, i joined this forum 10 minutes ago to hopefully find out why. So sorry i'm not much help.

Lettuce and other green leafy stuff are hard to digest. The reason is because they are in fiber. Something we can't digest. If you look up dietary fiber on ****pedia, it says that fiber is not good for people w/ IBS because it can cause diarrhea. Check it out for yourself. And of course, always check with your doctors about everything to be sure.

Lettuce & leafy veggies just contain alot of celulose that is difficult to breakdown during digestion--- It is an insoluble fiber that causes your intestines to move-- you really have to chew it alot.
Soluble fiber absorbs fluid and is usually not recognised in your stool-- it is the type fiber that bulks up your stool.
Your diet needs both types of fiber for your intestines to function properly.
All meat and dairy products have no fiber in them.
