I have a lot of heart irregularities w/o any pain. No insurance. REecently diagnosed with lyme disease and trying to pick and choose where money goes...

Can anyone give me a rough estimate as to what the heart monitor costs that you take home and where for a few days?

Thanks, cj

My best guess is about 300 bucks and most of that will be for someone to read the results. That is based on looking at my bills for the same thing.

cj,

Don;t DARE walk out with that monitor until they tell you BEFOREHAND, the charge...have a witness standing next to you.

My last hospital stay for ONE DAY in a NYC hospital (precautionary stay after a stent) was billed to my insurance company at $44,000.
Surgeon and stent were EXTRA; the 44 grand was just for the ROOM!

The insurance companies look at numbers like this and laugh at the hospital but what in blue blazes would one do WITHOUT the insurance company after receiving a bill like that?

When I had a high deductible and only 80% coverage of WHATEVER they decided to bill I asked for the price of EVERYTHING. They rolled their eyes a lot but didn't do ANYTHING til I find out the cost. Sometimes I'd say NOPE, too expensive!

Now with an HMO, if it's ordered by my doctor it's completely covered.
