View Full Version : Common Denominator?

Hello there, I just recently joined HealthBoards and noticed there was a forum for CFS. I have been struggling with chronic fatigue all of my adult life (about 19 years) and seem to cycle where I'm "ok" at best (able to participate in sports and do every day duties but never energized tho') and then have a period of a month or two every six months or so where I feel like I have the flu/no energy for ANYTHING (which is where I'm at right now). I have tried numerous therapies, medications, vitamins, etc. none of which has had great results although some have given me some relief. I fortunately found a doctor a few years ago who is wonderful, takes all kinds of notes during my visits, and tries various tests each time (some are at home tests) so he has not given up trying to conquer this.

Anyways, to my point - but I just wanted to give you a quick background about myself and welcome the feedback.

Over the years, I've noticed something that pops up rather consistently with individuals who have CFS and I would be extremely curious if anyone here shares these similarities. I've found that there has been some type of childhood head injury or head trauma and/or adult ADD. I've never seen anyone else talk about this and I at one time wanted to conduct a serious research project on it; however, not to make fun but I just lost the energy to do it.

I don't know what this would even prove but I would really like to hear from others regardless.

Interesting. I've had CFS for 12 years and I also head a head injury as a child. Let me/us know if you come up with any more information about this theory.

I agree - it is an interesting theory. I had a head injury when I was 16 - a blow to the side of my head which caused concussion. Not long after, I had suspected glandular fever and have now been diagnosed with CFS.

Hmm, perhaps a case of research needed on this.
