I take a depression medication (Effexor) and feel tired all the time. I'm always asleep and friends and family get mad at me for it, because I'm not awake to take part in the day's activities. I'm also at an age where I still go to school, so that is a problem as well.
My doctor let me go off it for a weeks time, and I still felt constant tiredness, but was told in the past that a week is not long enough for it to leave your system any how. Is this the reason I'm experiencing constant drousiness?

Hi
Welcome to the boards!
I would have my doctor run some tests to rule out anything going on with you physically. Talk to your doctor and let him/her know that the tiredness is interferring in your daily functioning. Hope you feel better soon.

I TRIED A COUPLE OF ADS BEFORE I FELT COMFORTABLE OR AT LEAST ABLE TO FUNCTION WITH SOME NORMALITY. WHEN YOU WENT TO SEE THE DOCTOR HE/SHE WILL MAKE A PROGNOSIS BASED ON WHAT YOU SAY ABOUT YOUR SYMPTOMS. IF TOU SAY YOU CANT SLEEP WITH WORRY AND CANT SHUT DOWN, THE MED OF CHOICE WILL HAVE SEDATIVE PROPERTIES. IF YOU SAY YOUR LETHARGIC/TIRED AND CONSENTRATION etc IS POOR THE MED OF CHOICE MAY HAVE STIMULANT PROPERTIES. I TRIED CYPRAMIL FIRST BUT THIS AFFECTED MY APPETITE TOO MUCH AND MADE ME SICKLY. THEN I WAS PRESCRIBED VENLAFLAXINE WHICH CAN HELP COMBAT OBSSESIVE THOUGHTS BUT THIS MADE ME VERY WITHDRAWN AND I TOO SLEPT CONSTANTLY. I THEN ENDED UP ON GOOD OLD PROZAC WHICH STILL HAD SIDE EFFECTS BUT THE GOOD OUT WEIGHED THE BAD SO I STUCK WITH THAT. IM OFF ALL MEDS NOW AND FEEL TIP TOP! GOOD LUCK
